It's 'Inner Peace,' Bradshaw's Mom Says Of Bin Laden Death

Nearly 10 Year's Later, 9/11 Hero's Mom Finding Peace

Pat Waugh's daughter, Sandy Bradshaw, was a flight attendant on Flight 93, the doomed airplane that crashed in rural Pennsylvania after being hijacked by terrorists on Sept. 11, 2001.Waugh said Monday that she's been waiting nearly 10 years for news that Osama bin Laden had been captured or killed. For her, that news came Sunday at about 10:45 p.m."I thought, 'This is good.' We've waited for this for a long time. This is something we wanted to happen, along with everyone else in America, especially to us 9/11 families," Waugh told WXII.Bradshaw and others on the flight are credited with fighting back against the hijackers by throwing hot water on them.Waugh's daughter died a hero, and now Waugh said she has peace knowing the mastermind behind the plot is dead."It's kind of like, a little inner peace. I realize it doesn't change anything. It's a step in the right directions," she said.Ten years later, Waugh said she still struggles with her daughter's death, and bin Laden's death won't change that."Some days are good, and some days are not. It's hard. I'm looking forward to going to Pennsylvania in September for the dedication of the memorial this year," she said.Bradshaw's husband Phil lives in Greensboro. The couple had three children."He was like me. He was happy that this finally took place. We've been waiting on it for a while," Waugh said of her conversation with her son-in-law.
