Candlelight Vigil Held At Scene Of 1988 Shooting

Saturday marked 22 years since the infamous Old Salisbury Road shooting.It was on July 17, 1988, that Michael Hayes opened fire along the Winston-Salem road, killing four people and injuring five others.R.B. Nicholson, the father of one of the victims, 24-year-old Tom Nicholson, held a candlelight vigil at the scene of the shooting Saturday at 9 p.m."It's hard to come by this corner, because you see this corner and you know what happened on it," said Linda Cantrell, whose 16-year-old daughter, Crystal, was killed in the shooting."She was late coming home that night," she said.Hayes is scheduled for release after more than 20 years at Dorothea Dix Mental Hospital in Raleigh. He was found guilty by reason of insanity.R.B. Nicholson said Hayes' release won't affect the message they hope to send at the vigil."We don't ever mention him, the shooter, because it's not about him. It's about the family, the victims and their friends," he said.While Hayes is ordered to stay out of Forsyth County, the victims' family members said they will never forget what happened there."The mistake was made back then, and now we're all suffering from it," Cantrell said. "He's getting out, and make him mad he'll probably do it again."Under the terms of Hayes' release, he must attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings twice a week and meet with a doctor monthly.

 RALEIGH -- The family of North Carolina coaching great Dean Smith says the 79-year-old Hall of Famer is dealing with memory loss.
The family sent a letter to former players and coaches Saturday, providing details about Smith's health after generally declining to comment for privacy reasons.Smith's condition was described as a "progressive neurocognitive disorder that affects his memory."Smith retired in 1997 after 36 seasons in Chapel Hill as the winningest coach in Division I men's basketball with 879 victories, a mark passed a decade later by Bob Knight at Texas Tech.Smith won 13 Atlantic Coast Conference tournaments, reached 11 Final Fours and won the NCAA championship in 1982 and 1993.

CHANGES OF LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!

What I have on my mind this morning is the changes in life that we go through. The picture I have on this blog is ACTUALLY a picture of me. When I was 19 years old, my best friend Inga and I went to Glamour Shots and had the works done. We took beautiful pictures and we knew we looked GOOD! Well, when we were finished and we left out of the mall, and got into the car, we looked in the mirror and saw what looked to be 2 drag queens. We had so much make-up on that a few people could have used it for beautification ideas. Now someone asked me why don't I do my hair like that now. Well here is the reason, I have gone through changes in life. I work in a facility that there is no need to look good for anyone. The only people I need to look good for is my husband and I. The change is I got older and I have responsibilities .

SKINNY!!!!

Why is it that everything is designed around people being skinny or losing weight? Insurance companies are targeting people who are overweight and charging them higher premiums, airlines will tell you to pay for 2 seats if you are a big person and all you hear from the doctor is LOSE WEIGHT. Here is a thought, if GOD wanted all us to be skinny then he would have made us all the same. It seems to me that this is a form of discrimination and I don't like it one bit. I guess if they want everybody to be skinny then they need to legalize crack so everybody will stop eating and lose the weight. Whatever. I am starting a new diet which is called WILL POWER. No, not a fancy diet but one where I control what I eat and how I exercise. If I want to cheat every once in awhile then I am going to do it. I'm not going to buy some expensive diet plan when I know I can do it myself. I have sat here for the last month and watched my son do it and all he does is walk everyday, morning and evening and cut down on his eating and he changed his eating habits and he has lost 14lbs.
I'm going to do it. 

PAYCHECKS!!!!!!

You know I don't even know why I work. Every time I get paid it is gone to the bill collector, to pay taxes, groceries, etc. Why do I even work? UGGGGGGGGGG!!!!. I think it is time to downsize on some of these bills. I just need to figure out a way to get rid of some of these bills. Maybe I need to be like some of these other people and say ," SCREW IT I'M NOT PAYING ANYBODY ANY MORE MONEY." Oh well it felt good screaming it out. Now it is time to get back to paying those old bills.

SOMETIMES IT JUST FEELS GOOD TO VENT. EVEN IF IT IS ONLY TO YOURSELF.
