NC man accused of shooting wife with toilet paper

REIDSVILLE, N.C. — A North Carolina man faces a felony charge after police said he shot his wife with a wad of toilet paper stuffed into a gun. Multiple media outlets reported Wednesday that a 38-year-old man was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Rockingham County sheriff's deputies said he shot his wife after she returned to their home after midnight on Tuesday.
Rockingham County Sheriff's Department spokesman Dean Venable told WGHP that the man loaded a black powder pistol with toilet paper, then fired the weapon at his 55-year-old wife, who was in bed.
His wife suffered a powder burn from the gunshot and was treated at a hospital.
Bond for the suspect was set at $1,000 and he is due in court Aug. 11.

Can you say CRAZY!!!!!!!!! Perhaps when picking a husband and you know you might come home after midnight you should ask ,"   What are you gonna do about it."   Then if he says I'm gonna shoot you then you need to tell him the relationship is over.

CAPE TOWN, South Africa -- A yachter in South Africa says her trip off the country's picturesque southwestern coast was wrecked by an unexpected whack from a whale.

Paloma Werner said Wednesday the whale breached just feet (meters) from their boat in Cape Town's waters on Sunday. It whacked the yacht, snapping the mast in two. A local newspaper showed a photo, captured by a passenger on a nearby boat, of a massive black whale towering over the yacht. Werner says neither she nor her companion were hurt, and she saw the whale swimming around minutes after the collision. She says she feels lucky that the mast took the brunt of the blow.
The seas around Cape Town are teeming with whales and great white sharks during the winter months, which fall in the middle of the year.

Fleeing Suspect Who Can't Swim Called For Deputies To Help

CASWELL COUNTY, N.C. --

A man who was running away from deputies last Wednesday jumped into the Dan River in a final act of desperation, but ended up calling to deputies to save him because he couldn't swim, Caswell County deputies said Tuesday.Deputies said the chase started at about 7:21 when officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious person trying to get into a vehicle at a business on Shady Grove Road. When officers arrived, the spotted Talib-Diyn Aziz, 34, get into a vehicle and drive away.Deputies said they gave chase, with speeds reaching more than 100 mph as Aziz sped toward Virginia, weaving in and out of traffic.At one point he almost struck an oncoming vehicle, deputies said.The chase finally ended when the right front tire on the vehicle blew and the vehicle struck a boulder near the Dan River Park in Danville, Va.After deputies pulled Aziz from the water he was arrested and is facing charges in North Carolina of fleeing to elude arrest, aggressive driving, failure to stop at a stop sign or a flashing red light.Deputies said further investigation recovered burglary tools which led to Aziz being charged with misdemeanor larceny.He is awaiting extradition to North Carolina.
